ATLANTA, GA —  Award-winning filmmaker and author Victoria lynn Weston has announced the launch of THE NAKED TRUTH, a historical novella inspired by the extraordinary life of Victoria Woodhull, the first woman to run for President of the United States.

The novella is being released alongside Weston’s short film, THE WOODHULL, a bold proof-of-concept film created to help launch the feature film version of THE NAKED TRUTH.

Set against the explosive backdrop of the 1870s, THE NAKED TRUTH explores Woodhull’s arrest after exposing the affair of a famous preacher, her battle against censorship, and the trial history denied her. The story reimagines Woodhull not as a victim, but as a magnetic, defiant woman who refused to disappear.

“Victoria Woodhull was punished for telling the truth,” said Weston. “Powerful men tried to silence her, jail her, and erase her. With THE NAKED TRUTH, I’m giving her the trial history denied her — and showing why her story still matters today.”

THE WOODHULL unfolds inside a stark 1870s jail cell, where Woodhull faces Anthony Comstock in a tense confrontation over truth, morality, law, censorship, and power. Shot as a proof of concept for the feature film, the short establishes the emotional and visual world of the larger story.

Weston, whose previous work includes the PBS-featured documentary America’s Victoria: Remembering Victoria Woodhull and the award-winning short film FREE LOVER, has spent years bringing Woodhull’s story to contemporary audiences.

The launch campaign invites readers and viewers to become early supporters of the feature film.
